There is almost no opening part on the peripheral wall. The roof slope leans to the middle of the courtyard. The natural light through four skylights generate various images on the white walls giving an closed impression of living underground.
Courtyard was completely covered by black soil after building. But soon it was covered with green. Exterior wall was initially made of concrete before it was covered by Boston ivy. Now the roof is buried by the green. The house was designed for a widow， whose husband died of cancer， and her two daughters， so the extremely closed space was built. In about 20 years， members of the family lived and loved each other in this space， but everyone wanted to pursue their independent life， so they decided to sell the house. In the spring of 1998， the building was demolished.
